Low Vision and AMD: The Importance of Lighting

February is Low Vision Awareness Month! According to the National Eye Institute (NEI), 3 million Americans over the age of 40 have low vision and this number is set to increase to 5 million by 2030. Low vision describes a person’s vision in which visual acuity is 20/70 or greater and cannot be corrected with standard reading glasses or improved with surgery.

If you have low vision, good lighting can make reading, writing, hobbies, and crafts easier and more accessible. Adding bright lighting throughout your house can have a big impact on your daily life and safety by helping you avoid obstacles and tripping hazards. A lamp with adjustable lighting designed for those with low vision can help you see small print and fine details.

The innovative MULTILIGHT Pro low vision lamp series by SCHWEIZER has been developed with your needs in mind. These adjustable lamps allow you to choose between a soft warm white, bright neutral white, or a cool blue light depending on your activity and time of day.
